Types of Residence Permit in Turkey
- Short Term Residence Permit
The short-term residence permit is a type of permit that can be issued for a maximum of two years and can be given twice at most. Foreigners who come to Turkey for tourist purposes, foreigners who buy real estate in Turkey, and foreigners who came to Turkey with the purpose of scientific research can apply for short-term residence permits. The easiest way is to buy real estate in Turkey (in residential status and to be used for this purpose) for foreigners who want to take a short-term residence permit with their family in Turkey. The student residence permit is the issued permission to foreigners, who will see primary and secondary education and foreigners who will study at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
- Long Term Residence Permit
Foreigners, who have resided for at least 8 years seamlessly in Turkey and allowed their livelihood, do not receive any help, have valid health insurance, and do not pose a threat to society and public security, can apply for a long-term residence permit. Refugees, conditional refugees, and humanitarian residence permit holders are also granted the right to transition to a long-term residence permit.
- Humanitarian Residence Permit
It is a residence permit that foreigners who suffer from violations of human rights, escape from civil war and various humanitarian situations can apply for. It can be arranged for a maximum of one year and can be extended for a period of one year. The conditions required for other types of residence permits are not required for humanitarian residence permit applications.
- Residence Permit for Victims of Human Trafficking
It is a residence permit issued for foreigners who are victims of human trafficking or who have strong suspicions that they might be.
